Materials for this project are noted in green type as you read these instructions.

Click on Image "A" to download the 8.5" x 11" template for reference.

Click on Image "B" to the left to download a pdf file of the pattern pieces. It is best to print these onto heavier stock so that they are more easily traceable onto felt, foam or construction paper.

To prepare the background, you will need one 9"x12" sheet of sky blue colored felt, foam or poster board. Glue onto stiff cardboard or posterboard for added support.

To make the project into a Jacket for the Workbook, use two 9"x12" pieces of stiff cardboard or posterboard. Tape together the two boards to form a loose cover for the Workbook.

For the grass line of the background, paste a bright green piece of felt, foam or paper to the bottom third of the poster.

Next, have the children cut out the pattern pieces with scissors. Then, with a thin marker trace around the patterns onto colors of felt, foam or paper.

Have the children position the pieces onto the background before gluing down with Elmer's Glue.

For a title option, click Image "C" to the left for a download of multiple title pieces. Print this file onto bright green paper.

This applique poster will further enhance the lessons of the workbook. As the children are working, review lessons from the "Fruits & Graces Workbook." It could also work well as a Jacket for the Workbook by using two 9"x12" backing boards.

About the Applique Poster Activity

If children are very young, it is best to read the lessons to the group with expression, pausing to rehearse what was read. For older group lessons, select children who read fluently so that flow of the content is more easily understood. Pause the reading to discuss specific points to be sure that the lessons are being understood.
This workbook is also available for purchase as a spiral-bound book — see contact information below.
